The Captain

Ken EldredgeCaptain Kenny Eldredge is a 12th generation Cape Codder born and raised in Chatham. Although his great great grandfather, grandfather, and father were all avid striped bass fishermen, Kenny was the only one in the family to make commercial fishing his lifelong career.

After a childhood spent fishing for fun with his dad, he began fishing commercially for stripers in 1969 after some college and three years in the Army. Bass fishing later gave way to codfishing and his small boats were no longer adequate for the Atlantic in winter.

In 1980 he purchased his first new diesel powered fiberglass fishing boat dedicated to hooking codfish, haddock and bluefin tuna. Fishing was good for many years, even with the occasional lean years. But by 2002 the decline of the groundfish fisheries was making it increasingly difficult to earn a living offshore. In order to remain viable economically and still be on the water, Ken earned a U.S. Coast Guard 100 Ton Master’s license, allowing him to launch his sportfishing business.

He enjoys taking the novice, the seasoned fisherman, the young and the not so young out for a few hours of fishing fun.
